The January, March, August, and October course dates are held in this format: Evenings & Weekends Monday – Friday 6-10 PM & Saturday 8 AM-4 PM, for 3 weeks.

The June course date is held in this format: Daytime Monday – Friday 8 AM-5 PM, for 2 weeks.

You must ensure you meet the U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center requirements for a license, prior to enrolling in a course. Please visit our helpful license requirements page to review some of the important requirements for a National OUPV or National Master up to 100 Tons license. Our Student Services staff can help answer your questions about which level of Deck Officer license you may qualify for.

When you register for this Captain's License Course, we will mail you the following required books for the class: (3) TRLMI Captain Course books, and (1) USCG Navigation Rules & Regulations Handbook ("Rules of the Road" book). We highly advise that you register for this course at least one month in advance to allow adequate time to study.

When checking-out, PROVIDE A SHIPPING ADDRESS otherwise your books will be mailed to the billing address.

You will be loaned the following required tools in class: A set of plotting tools that includes a roll plotter, triangle, dividers, a basic calculator, and our navigational study aid "Mariner's Guide to Rules of the Road." These tools will be loaned to you in class, but you are welcome to bring your own or purchase them from TRLMI to keep.
